Dear Members, Friends and Volunteers,
Preregistration open for county’s mass vaccination site
Preregistration is available for Montgomery County’s mass vaccination site that opened on Wednesday. The new site is on the Montgomery College Germantown campus. Eligible residents and workers can preregister for the state mass vaccination sites here or by calling 1-855-634-6829. When vaccine doses are available for a preregistered individual’s group, an invitation to sign up for an appointment will be sent.

Maryland and the county are currently inoculating eligible residents and workers in Phases 1, 2A, and 2B, which include health care workers, first responders, residents age 60 and older, and residents age 16 and older with underlying medical conditions or disabilities.

Preregistration opens on April 13 for persons in Phase 2C: age 55 and older and essential workers in critical industries, including construction, food services, utilities, transportation, financial services, IT and other infrastructure.

Preregistration opens on April 27 for all Maryland residents 16 and older. Bethesda Beat.

When vaccine doses are available for a preregistered individual’s group, an invitation to sign up for an appointment will be sent.  Please take the first vaccination appointment you are offered at any clinic.

Montgomery County mass vaccination site
The County opened Montgomery College in Germantown as a mass vaccination site. The County is operating the vaccine center through Wednesday, April 7. It is expected that the State will convert the site to a Maryland mass vaccination center beyond that date. The Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced last week that a State mass vaccination site will open at the Germantown campus starting next week. He did not establish a date that will happen. The site will be managed by the State and vaccinations will be available to all Marylanders.

Free RideOn shuttle service will run from the Shady Grove Metro station to the vaccination site at Montgomery College-Germantown.  Buses will run every 15 minutes from 8:30 a.m. until 30 minutes after the last vaccination (approximately 5 p.m.).  Pick up the shuttle on the east side of the Shady Grove Metro.  Buses will be marked “Vaccination Shuttle.”  You need an appointment for the ride - register here.

First federal mobile COVID-19 vaccination units coming to Maryland
Governor Larry Hogan and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced on Monday that the nation’s first federal mobile COVID-19 vaccination units will launch in the State of Maryland. The units are funded and operated by FEMA and will use trained vaccinators and clinical staff from county, state, and federal agencies.

The two mobile units will provide a minimum of 250 COVID-19 doses per day for thousands of Marylanders who live in remote or otherwise underserved areas on the Eastern Shore. Each unit is expected to stay in one location for at least a few days at a time. More.

County statistics are looking good
As of Tuesday, March 30, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Dashboard noted  324,408 Montgomery County residents (30.9%) received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 172,783 residents (16.4%) are fully vaccinated.

No library fines!
Montgomery County Public Libraries stopped charging fines for overdue library materials on February 1 and wiped out all outstanding overdue fines. It doesn’t matter when your materials were checked out – last year, two years ago or twenty years ago. The library will be happy to see them again, and you’ll have room to check out new materials.
