Jordana Carmel, our neighbor in 20895, invites us to join her Community Yoga classes (4:30 on Wednesdays and 4:30 on Fridays) to help de-stress during the pandemic. The invitation includes the caveat “Please do not let money influence your decision of whether or not to join us.” Learn more at Virtual Community Yoga. Villages of Kensington brings you a discussion with Christina Puchalski, MD, MS, FACP, FAAHPM, is a pioneer and international leader in the movement to integrate spirituality into healthcare in clinical settings and medical education. As founder and director of the George Washington Institute for Spirituality and Health (GWish) and Professor of Medicine at The George Washington University in Washington, DC, she continues to break new ground in the understanding and integration of spiritual care in healthcare settings. Housing Initiative Partnership (HIP), a nonprofit housing developer and counseling agency, is launching a Home Sharing Program in Montgomery County, beginning December 1, 2020. The goal is to successfully identify and match renters who are seeking affordable housing options with homeowners who have attractive and safe spare bedrooms in their homes, or Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) on their property, to rent long-term. The homeowners must live in the home full time to participate.
HIP’s Montgomery County Home Sharing Program is supported by Montgomery County’s Department of Health & Human Services, and uses Silvernest.com to match Homeowners (HO) with compatible Home Seekers (HS). No housing subsidies are available. Below you will find the links to a survey for Homeowners and a separate survey for Home Seekers. We would love to get your input on whether a Home Sharing arrangement is something you would consider. Feel free to also forward the survey links to friends and family members who might also have an interest in learning more about this new initiative. For more information, please call HIP: 301-85-SHARE (301-857-4273) For home owners: https://hiphomes.org/home-sharing/ For home seekers: https://hiphomes.org/home-seekers/ Thank You, HIP Home Sharing Team Guidelines for staying safe and sane for members and volunteers, for all of us

There will be County-operated testing at 14 clinics on the upcoming schedule. Testing at County clinics is free, does not require a doctor’s referral and is available by making advance appointments or on a walk-up basis. Reservations can be made online at www.MoCoCOVIDtesting.org. Marilyn Emery has been a resident of Kensington for over 30 years. Through her job as a Realtor she often works with residents and their families who are facing the decisions to age in place, or move. This gives her a view of the many decisions that go into what it takes to safely stay in your home. Over the years Marilyn has been very active as a volunteer in her neighborhood, local schools and her church. She finds these activities rewarding and energizing. In her free time Marilyn loves spending time with her family, doing gardening, photography and spending time in the quiet of the woods. We are excited that our masked Vok president, Mike Landa (upper right hand corner) was featured in a flyer promoting Good Neighbor Day that appeared in The Washington Post. The federal Department of Health and Human Services is asking providers to be on the lookout for postcards from the "Secretary of Compliance" in the "HIPAA Compliance Division" at federal DHHS. The postcard asks the recipient to call, email, or visit a website that's supposedly about HIPAA compliance.
These postcards are fake and are part of an apparent phishing campaign. You should simply just ignore them and toss them. These postcards are not from any federal agency. I'm sending this out to everyone because we work with many partners that might think the postcard is legitimate. Please feel free to share this broadly. This is what the fake postcard looks like the image below. Again, if anyone receives this postcard, the only thing to do is to just throw it away. There's a lot of anxiety in the world right now. Nobody needs more of it. Let me know if you have any questions. I've included the security alert email from federal DHHS below. -- Danny K.
